Fire Safety House

Fire Safety HouseThis interactive teaching aid lets kids get a hands-on lesson in fire and home safety.

  • A weather safety scenario simulates severe thunderstorms using video, surround-sound audio and special effects.
  • A door heats up to simulate heat from a fire, a generator creates non-toxic smoke, a working phone demonstrates 911 calls, and there’s even a kitchen with actual appliances and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
  • The safety house is portable and can be towed with a Fire Department vehicle to various schools, churches, daycare centers and public events, in addition to being available for use at Fire Headquarters at 375 Nilles Road. It is also available to the public at each of the "Movies in the Park" features during the summer.
  • The unit is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
