Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch GroupA neighborhood where residents are concerned about the well-being of each other is more resistant to criminal activity. The Neighborhood Watch Program is a nationally recognized program that teaches residents to become active participants in their own safety by becoming the "eyes and ears" of their local police department.

Members of an effective Neighborhood Watch remain active even when there are no crime issues affecting their neighborhood. Thus, this program requires that leaders be identified within each neighborhood that are willing to continually organize and direct the crime prevention activities of their neighbors. The police play a supporting role in this effort.
