Memorial Day

Monday, May 31, 2021

In an effort to facilitate smaller gatherings, the City of Fairfield will host a drive-by Memorial Day parade in several locations throughout the City. The parade will start at the Fairfield Community Arts Center at 10 a.m. and drive by many public locations for viewing opportunities throughout Fairfield, including: Veterans of Foreign Wars (Post 1069), Fairfield Youth Playfields, Waterworks Park, Thomas O. Marsh Park, Fairfield Aquatic Center, Point Pleasant Park, and Veterans Memorial Park.

Spectators may view the drive-by at the above location’s parking lots between approximately 10 – 11:30 a.m. Viewers will be able to watch police cruisers, a fire engine, squad, national guard, and other City department vehicles drive by to honor the brave citizens who fought and gave their lives for our country. We encourage the spectators to be creative and show off their Memorial Day spirit!

The Parks and Recreation Department will be giving away hand-held American flags for event spectators to pickup at the Fairfield Community Arts Center free of charge, while supplies last. One flag per individual. We ask that spectators of the drive-by parade maintain a distance of six feet or more from individuals who are not members of their family/household.
