Projected increases in traffic due to commercial development along Seward Road necessitated improvements to the traffic signal at Seward and Tylersville Roads. The traffic impact study, prepared by the developer's engineer, and approved by the City, recommended removing the traffic signal and rebuilding the intersection as a modern roundabout.
An elliptical roundabout was designed to accommodate space constraints. In addition to the roundabout, the project included new street lighting, pedestrian crossings that are set up for a future multi-use trail, and water main replacement.
In addition to the City, funding for the project was secured from the following: TID grant, Fairfield Township, the County Motor Vehicle Fund, and Al Neyer Inc.
