Chief Stephen B. Maynard leads the Fairfield Police Department. A 20-year veteran of the Department, he started his career in 1999 as an officer. Prior to becoming Chief in February of 2018, he was a Lieutenant, managing operations.

Throughout his career with Fairfield PD, he has served in several roles. He was assigned to the Investigations Unit to conduct both general and specialized investigations. He was selected to serve as a field training officer and firearms instructor. For ten years, he was a leader of the Hamilton-Fairfield SWAT team. In 2008, he was promoted to sergeant where he worked as a third shift supervisor until he was selected for Lieutenant in 2015.

Education
Chief Maynard has an associate's degree from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor's degree from Ashland University. He is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy and Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command.

Awards
In 2013, Chief Maynard was awarded the Police Medal for his leadership in a dangerous tactical situation.
