Construction Site Stormwater Runoff Control

These 3 activities reduce pollutants that may be present in construction site runoff:

  • Erosion and sediment control ordinance: Through Ordinance 1117, the City has updated its ordinances requiring erosion and sediment control measures for all new development and redevelopment projects in Fairfield. It also specifies which department staff is responsible for different types of development projects.
  • Adoption of erosion and sediment control manual: Through Ordinance 1117, the City specifies that the most current edition of the Rainwater and Land Development manual will serve as Fairfield’s standard document for erosion and sediment control measures. This manual is the reference document currently used by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for erosion and sediment control.
  • City staff training: The City has developed a training program for inspectors in the Public Works and Planning departments. This training is focused on the proper installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control measures and verification that a given set of measures provides adequate protection.
