Find Your Future in Law Enforcement
Are you a young adult with a passion for helping others? Do you see yourself serving the community in law enforcement one day? We invite you to take the first step by joining our Public Safety Cadets program — a hand-on, real-world introduction to a career in public service.
What is the Public Safety Cadets Program?
Designed to create an interest in and understanding of law enforcement, our program introduces, educates and involves highly motivated young adults in our community in all aspects of police operations. It aims to promote and expand the partnership between the Fairfield Police Department and the Fairfield community.
As a Cadet, you'll train alongside Fairfield Police Officers, learn the basics of law enforcement and participate in community events and ride-alongs. It's more than just volunteering — it's preparation for your future.

When: Thursday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm

There are occasions when we will meet elsewhere to accommodate training topics or activities.
Program Requirements
Public Safety Cadets is open to all young adults age 14-20 who:
- Have completed 8th grade
- Successfully pass a background check
- Have no convictions for serious criminal/traffic offenses
- Have parent/guardian consent, if under 18
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher, if enrolled in school
- Complete Cadet orientation training
- Are medically cleared to participate
