The Fairfield Police Department consists of 66 sworn officers who respond to more than 30,000 calls for service annually. The members of the Fairfield Police Department are committed to resolving community concerns through effective use of problem-solving and communication skills.

The patrol officers are augmented by an investigations section, full-time school officers, canine officers, and bike patrol officers. The Fairfield Police Department also has a complement of officers assigned to SWAT.

In addition to sworn personnel, the Fairfield Police Department employs a civilian work force that provides a variety of support services to police officers and the community. To find out more about these positions, visit the Civilian Positions page.

Police Officer Hiring Process

Before appointment, a police officer candidate must successfully complete the following:

  • Background Investigation
  • Civil Service Exam
  • Medical Evaluation
  • Physical Agility Test
  • Polygraph Examination
  • Psychological Evaluation
  • Two Oral Interviews
