Leslie Besl, 1st Ward
Leslie was originally appointed to City Council in September 2017, to fill the unexpired term of Bob Myron, who passed away in July 2017. She was then elected to serve a four-year term beginning in 2020.
Leslie's family was transferred to Fairfield from the Chicago area when she was seven years old. Her family declined additional transfers because they loved the area so much and are still residents.
A graduate of Fairfield High School, Leslie earned a bachelor's degree in business and marketing from Morehead State University.
As a former volunteer for the City, Leslie has served on the City's Parks & Recreation Board and the Cultural Arts Advisory Committee. Since her election as 1st Ward Councilwoman, she has served on the Board of Zoning Appeals, Finance & Budget Committee, Parks and Recreation Board, Community and Public Relations Committee, Public Utilities Committee, and Chairwoman of the Urban Gardening Task Force.
Leslie has been the Chief Staff Officer at the Butler-Warren Association of Realtors since 1998. Some of her professional highlights include overseeing a three-association merger, orchestrating a successful county-wide referendum drive, and managing the more than 750 member, non-profit, association that consistently has one of the highest non-dues revenue percentages for real estate associations in Ohio. She has served in numerous Association Executive capacities through the Ohio Association of Realtors, including the Finance Committee, Communications Committee, Equal Opportunity Committee, and Professional Standards Committee as well as her current position as Association Executive Vice Chairwoman for the Ohio Association of Realtors, upon which she will become the AE Chairwoman.
